Who We Are

Rukanga Makutano Water and Sanitation PLC (RUMAWASCO) is a licensed Water Service Provider operating within Kirinyaga County, Mwea West Sub-County, Makutano Location, and Rukanga Sub-Location.

The Company began as a community water project in 1989, financed by IFAD through the Government of Kenya and the Rukanga community. Following the enactment of the Water Act 2002, the Company was incorporated as a Water Service Provider Limited by Shares on 16th May 2008 under the Companies Act Cap 486 and currently operates under the supervision of the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB).
